picture says a thousand words

while most of the time we say that but i don't think it's always true. you know how people always judge others based on their appearance? especially first impressions. psychologists actually conduct studies about this kind of thing and it's somehow through that first impression is very important if you were to meet people for the first time. say if u went for a job interview or something, obviously you would have to look confident and reliable before they would actually consider you for the job right? in that case, it's kind of true. but say if you met a friend online. you've never met each other before but somehow you clicked right away! i think that's sort of the thing we seek for in a true friendship. something based on your inner beauty and qualities not just appearance wise. that's why i don't think it's necessary to put up pics of yourself intentionally so that others can judge you based on your appearance. what's worst is that some people actually go through the effort to alter and make themselves picture perfect through the blessings of technology but why? wouldn't it be a turn off then for those who liked you for how you look and when they see you in person, it's a lil different? so always be yourself whatever the circumstances is. if you don't look nice, then just don't put it up. well unless it's on friendster or something then it's different scenario. say if u were scrolling along the pages on friendsters and u happened to bump into a familiar name, then you wouldn't be able to visualise or even convince yourself that you know him/her once upon a time ago if there's no pictures. so in that case, it would matter to at least have one picture of you for identification purposes. well, it's that what friendster's all about? to keep in contact with old/lost/new friends? *grinz
