it's all about you today

when we were in dandenongs waiting for the puffing billy

this was really funny because he just candidly stepped onto the car without verifying if it belonged to anyone or was it a display

you should see the picture of him when we were last in gold coast 1999 where all the animals were surrounding him while he was posing for the photo

my dad is special because he's the only person i know with triangular eyes. =)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

my second weekend here

|
time do really flies doesn't it? it's now been two weeks since i came back to melbourne...well almost anyways. what have i been up to? staying in the city really doesn't help me stay away from shopping! but hey i did get my first payment so it's all good. =) if going for meals in the city means there's bound to be window shopping and window shopping leads to actually purchasing stuff. and me who said i wouldn't do as much shopping because i wanna save up money so i'll be rich when i get home (looks like that's not going to happen huh?). but i think i'm still in the transition period...come on...two weeks only ma. and i who always complained that it's hard for me to find something i like in my size during sales? it doesn't seemed so this time around! my theory is that i just came back to melbourne. i've been missing out on the fashion here for almost four months? so i still see things that i potentially like which could have been old stock but heck i wouldn't know! wait till a month later then probably i will start complaining i don't see things i like anymore.

and my senior just said that it was so unlike me that since i come back i've been coming in to lab everyday and staying til quite late eventhough i don't have any lab work at the moment! i know i know...i have a bad reputation from honours because i'm always missing in action supposedly doing work from home...or just too lazy to go in early so come at lunch time...or going back early. so i can actually sit there with my laptop (only for listening to music) waiting for the IT guys to come hook me up to the network. damn i hate waiting. week after week how long more will it take. i think i'm going to grow shorter by the end of this year since i'm walking while carrying my laptop to work every single day!! it's not one of those 12" laptop...cute and handy...and light. do you want a hunched back gal as a friend? =)

having craving for durian gelato...i want...i need...durian gelato!!! hope can get my fix tomorrow. oh wait...ain't i suppose to be reading all those journals that i brought back? hehe. and i have to go buy printer. and go eat duck rice. yumz. marianne...do you know pacific house is in the city now? =) sounds like i wouldn't be getting much work done huh? that's for bringing all the papers home. and prolly bringing it all back to lab on monday. extra burden. journals as thick as a textbook plus heavy laptop. there goes my shoulder.

note to self: drink more water...

sex and the city

|
i was just complaining that there's nothing on tv eventhough it's friday then linda said why not we go watch a movie? super uber excited i uttered i wanna watch sex and the city! because previously i asked but no one was interested to watch it with me. saying they weren't fans of their series and all. and i would say i'm also not a devoted fan because i only watch them whenever i can and not go crazy if i've missed some season or chapters. so we called up and there were still tickets available for the 11 pm show. after some rational thinking we concluded that there was still tix because the movie was going to be 3 hours long including ads and by then it would prolly be too late for some to take the trams or the trains. loved the movie to bits! totally chicky flick. i pity those guys who were dragged to watch the movie. mostly gals of course.

on another matter, we went to max brenner before the movie started. so we were happily sitting there waiting for our order when linda noticed a man just walked out with the plates on the next table! the next thing we knew, he came back and was surveying the merchandises and just wrapped on of those cups in his jacket and walked off again. i spontaneously called out to linda's friend who was working there and told him what we saw. in shocked! then after a few minutes that guy was walking pass again with quite some items in his plastic bags! but linda's friend later thanked us and told us they have caught the guy. wow...i couldn't believe my eyes really. right in public where there's just so many people inside and outside of max brenner. we were later told that he said he was drunk but it definitely didn't look like it when we saw him.

it's the long weekend and i've only be back at lab for a week. fantabulous!

can you believe it?

|
that the price of my bedroom slippers is more expensive than that of a heater? well, i was trying to look for a better heater since it always crash within a year. thought maybe got kambrook or something to buy but seems like all the heaters around are ciplak brands or should i say no brand? ya, and i needed a bedroom slippers too because the kitchen floor and the bathroom floor are tiled. so it's really cold! i was told that this year will be the coldest winter in the past 10 years! it is quite cold considering that it's only june now. prolly be great for skiing this year. but not like got anything to do with me la.

=P
i kinda enjoy staying in the city, eventhough it's the other end of the city. =) anytime can just walk to melbourne central or safeway to buy stuff. though i don't like it that i have to take my own groceries. you know i don't have the strongest arms in the world. and taking a trolley will just look so aunty. maybe i shall like drop by every day and buy one thing at a time? but am finding it hard to finish up all my food eventhough it's not a lot. 15 mandarins is taking too long to vanish. pack of caramello koala is taking too long to finish. cereals not even touched cuz no milk (just bought milk today), and cheezels!

am thinking i'm always writing in short nonsensical manner. is it confusing or wat?

melbourne is freaking cold!

|
when i came back here, i thought "darn, i just missed out on the megasales in malaysia!". but tomorrow is the start of stocktake sales! i can't think of anything in particular that i really want to buy. except for the fact that i need a new heater (the weather is getting pretty cold) and a new printer (which was worn out due to overusage last year). if i wanted to, perhaps i could get more sweaters. other than that, i already gave up on the hope of getting another boots since i was told they (charles and keith) are not taking in size 4 this year. i'm not overexcited about the sales though. since i know i seldom find anything that i like during this time of the year cuz everything that i like is often out of size. so i actually buy stuff when it's not on a bargain for fear of no more stock.

have been back at uni for two days now. doing good at the moment. kinda been doing things leftover from last year actually. submitting abstracts for poster or oral presentation based on my honours project. so am actually kinda glad that more than just an honours thesis have come out of last year. going to be working on my PhD project outline soonish. i think i'm the PhD student that started the latest this year but obviously can't be helped.

there's random stuffs in my room...

...but i'm too lazy to touch them

i am connected

organization

|
so many clothes need organizing. first the clothes then the other random stuffs. my bears and wabbit are occupying my desk. where to put what and what to put where. can't believe tomorrow is thursday already!
*/update
clothes are in order. now the pengsan part, all those tiny lil things that are everywhere!

back in melbourne...

|
...lots of things to unpack. it's like pratically moving house and on top of that with an extra luggage to unpack. can't seem to find anything right now since most of the things are in all random boxes. the first thing i did was to change the bedsheets and sleep! went to buy basic necessities and cooked myself dinner after so long. couldn't stop chatting with linda (my current hommie) who was kind enough to accompany me to safeway. and i ate san churros for the first time...yumz! and we both were planning to get new phone plans hence phone-scouting. too tired too do any organizing at the moment. probably keep that for tomorrow.
...time seems to pass by so slowly

it saddens me...

|
...to leave my loved ones behind.

of cocktails and more cocktails

|
went to bintan island without much expectations because read on other people's blog that there was tar pollution on the beach. but upon arriving, there was nothing but spectacular. i guess being the 'jakun' me who always opted for the most affordable accomodation, it was great to experience a four-star treatment for once. we were served ice cold lemon tea and cold towel upon arrival which was very refreshing indeed, considering having to travel all the way from KL-Singapore-Bintan Island. we didn't even need to carry our bags to the room as they handled all that (though we couldn't tip whoever who brought the bags to our room because s/he was long gone before we even stepped into the room.

this is the view of the main area by the pool side. noticed there's not much people around? (the people started pouring in on the day we were leaving, perhaps for a seminar). thankfully it's not the holiday season. there's a lot of other activities to do here apart from swimming. also there's the beach just a short walk away.

our double suite. loved the colour scheme a lot. well nothing can fail when there's dark wood furniture and bright coloured walls to bring in the holiday mood.

we arrived in the evening so didn't really do much that day because too tired and hot anyways. but it was sure fun to have free flow of cocktails and mocktails at the bars.

the next day we did all we could. we went to do some archery and then to the beach. surprisingly there wasn't many people on the beach also. and may i say there wasn't any tar pollution at ria bintan. though there was a lot of warning saying that "jelly fish is present at all time", "the beach is steep", "no lifeguard on duty". i realised more people rather hang out near the swimming pool maybe because most of the guests came with kids. then did some swimming in the pool, while being watched by the hunky lifeguard (who was praticing his dance move for the programme later at night).

overall it was a very pleasant experience. definitely thanks to my parents who won this trip from their CIMB lucky draw thingy. even the food was excellent! so much choices to choose from. you know like for breakfast how you would normally get the continental breakfast (egg, bacon, sausages, toast, cereal etc), this one even has cream cheese smoked meat smoked salmon bagel, porridge for the asian inclined etc etc. and the fruit juices were all freshly squeezed, not those processed crap. even dinner and lunch time always consist of western, korean, japanese, indian, and various specialities of the day. and we get to meet the employees there as well when we shared a table while having meals. according to all of the whom we asked, they said that Club Med Cherating is one of their favourite. more authentic, and special. so i guess what i'm leaving you with is that if you're planning to give Club Med a try, start with the one in Cherating. you definitely don't have to fly there and take a ferry just to get there. more convenient and seemingly better. like one whom we asked how many Club Med has he been, he said he's been to more than 10 within Asia Pacific!

i'll leave you with the picture of eugene taken in the only place worth taking in Changi Airport.

how can someone be so insensitive

|
well...i was listening to the radio the other night. there was this programme called "flirty at 10.30" where they will try to hook people up on date. of course one party would initiate the asking another out and then the radio host will call the other person to see if they'll agree to it. so this time around, there was this gal called allison. she was going out with this guy for a few times now and wasn't sure what they were in the "relationship". when asked if they were already boyfriend-girlfriend, she said, this is what she wanted to find out. so they asked her, if she actually asked the guy this question and she said he seems to be not answering his phone lately *get the hint*? so when the radio host got hold of james @ the guy, they were asking him if he wanted to go on a date with this gal who he has been going out with? then he started freaking out, obviously saying no and telling them about why he's not interested in her (eventough they dated). AND MIND YOU, ALLISON IS LISTENING ON THE OTHER END!!! so he went on saying that SHE'S OUTTA THIS WORLD!... SHE IS TOTALLY BLA BLA BLA...SHE'LL SHOUT WHEN HEARING A GAL VOICE CALLING HIM...anything bad you can think of la. asked if he maybe wanted to say hi to her, he totally said no HE DON'T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING GOTTA DO WITH HER and even THANKED THE RADIO CHANNEL IF THIS WAS GOING TO BE THE LAST TIME HE'S GONNA HEAR FROM HER! so when they finally got back on the other side of the line with Allison, she was speechless then she hung up...from her shaky voice it was so obvious that she was CRYING!!!
so tell me, how can someone be so insensitive? if he doesn't like her, eventhough they dated a few times, i'm sure he can just tell her maybe they're just not meant to be or something right? but he chose the cowardly way of avoiding her hoping that she gets the hint. obviously if she's interested in you, she'll try her very best to hear from you right? i mean if you really like this guy, you're just going to ignore the unanswered calls or unreplied sms and comfort yourself by saying, maybe he's just busy? to me, i totally felt upset for the gal lor! it's just as bad as breaking up with your girlfriend ON-AIR! so EVIL!!
*wonder what would you think the next time you meet a JAMES in your life. maybe he IS THAT JAMES! BEWARE!
** this is a totally biased post based on what i heard on-air. maybe the gal could be a controlling freak of nature but she sounded sweet and he is still at the wrong in my opinion!
|
i'm feeling emo and i don't know why. maybe it's too many jumbled up thoughts on my mind or is it just the effects of the hormones. it just makes me wonder...is this just the beginning...of more emo episodes to come. i hate it when i'm unclear of what's bothering me...i just don't feel right. if only i have a shoulder to cry on....

tag-a-thon

|
I've been tagged by Jimmy

Game rules:
A. People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs and replace any question they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves. Tag 8 people. Those who are tagged cannot refuse.

B. These 8 people must state who they were tagged by. You cannot tag the person who tagged you. Continue this game by sending this to 8 other people. People who are tagged will be blessed and their wishes will come true in the future.

1.If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?

this would depend on how much that person means to me...partially. there's reasons for things to turn out the way they did.

2.What will you do if you do not share the same feelings as the person who likes you?

then maybe it's not meant to be...but you'll never know...timing is everything.

3.What will your dream wedding be like?

never really thought about that before...really.

4.Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?

maybe confused is not the right word to use...of course we don't know what lies ahead so maybe more of ready to expect the unexpected.

5.What's your ideal lover like?

someone compatible. someone who accepts you for who you are. someone who can be there for you at all times. someone understanding. (this would require a whole post if i were to list down everything)

6.Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone else?

being loved. but it's all about give and take. you can't just receive all the time.

7.If the person you like does not accept you, would you continue to wait for them to change their feelings?

it's not the end of the world...if it's meant to happen...it will.

8.If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?

nothing i guess...i'm not the most daring person in the world and i'm not gonna be a boyfriend-snatcher, am i? perhaps unless you know that the other feels the same, then maybe?

9.Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?

tell me one person who doesn't feel unhappy once in a while.

10.What do you want most in life?

happiness.

11.Is being tagged fun?

me no likey tags. make me feel obliged to do it. and i normally will.

12.If you find out that your best friend is going out with your boyfriend/girlfriend, how would you react?

then he/she is not your best friend after all? but was if my best friend is a guy...?

13.Who is currently the most important person to you?

hmm...i really don't know...

14.What kind of person do you think I am?

who is "I"? the person who tagged me? lame-o! ehehe...u know i'm just pulling your leg right?

15.What is the most unforgettable thing/event in your life?

unpleasant events... heartbroken events... a tainted past.

16.If the person you secretly like cannot recognize you, what would you do/how would you react

i don't think i'll fall for someone who doesn't know me. unless it's just a crush then it doesn't matter really.

17.Would you give your all in a relationship?

used to but not anymore...people learn from experiences...

18.If you fall in love with two persons simultaneously, who would you pick?

i'm not good with decision making...i think i'll just let things be and see what happens...

19.What type of friends do you like?

nonjudgemental. honest. available. etc etc.

20.If you played a prank on someone, and he/she fell for the trick, what would you do?

i'm too kind to play a prank on someone.

i tag whoever who's interested in doing this tag. hehe.

what we need is

it's my space

|
and i like it the way it is. you can just go around changing things the way it is. without even asking permission. so you're just thinking for yourself without thinking that you're intruding into other people's life. just a reminder that you should be more mindful of others, next time.

i'm in major need for wearing jeans. i wanna wear jeans! i miss wearing jeans! tried pair #1: too tight. tried pair #2: ok but not comfortable cuz jeans material is tough (not good for wound healing). looked at pair #3, #4: definitely not. i'm not saying that i'm fat that i can't fit into my jeans ok? so i guess i have to thank god for inventing tights. next best option but it's definitely different. i need my daily dose of skinny jeans, soon.

i think i need to get back to melbourne soon or else i'll just keep on buying more and more clothes. but at least from the bkk trip, i never feel like shopping in malls d. because i'll just look see look see and think it's expensive. nothing that's so special that's worth me spending the extra money. what's more the fact that the same RM30 dress is selling for RM89.90 in sunway pyramid. sorta proud of our buy until now. *grins

on another note, what is it with this trend of oversized bags? and i'm not talking about those that's big enough to fit a sweater, a bottle of water etc. i'm talking about those you see around nowadays which seems bigger than me! if you chopped me into pieces, i would definitely fit in it (just a metaphore). like those that you can take and fit all you need for a weekend getaway. is it that practical for everyday use? wouldn't it make it easier for snatch thieves to grab it off your shoulder? *puzzled

my grandma is the best

|
thanks for taking care of me this two weeks. though you added more to the already long list of restrictions, i still really appreciate you cooking for me seeing that i shouldn't be eating outside food. i guess this is really a blessing in disguise seeing that i'm able to spend more quality time with family.

while i'm at it, would like to thank those who visited me in the hospital and to marianne who brought me more entertainment right when you feel better. and to those who wished me. thank you. i feel loved.

current mode

|
current mode: missing my sewing machine. if only i had a functional one at home. wow, imagine how many softies i would have produced by now? seeing that i've been back in malaysia since mid-jan. could have a fully functional production line and new range by now. yes, i AM so free and bored. you would be too if you're stuck at home most of the time, eating bland food most of the days. but now that i've got my router, i should probably be starting on that journal paper i'm supposed to write eh? no more excuses...

everything happens for a reason

|
i've always said to people, "everything happens for a reason". i'm sure something good will come out of all these. but obviously when you're the one who's hearing all these, you'll be like "it's easier said than done". no matter how small the matter is, you'll be deeply affected, or at least i am. at one point in time, i actually thought to myself, i don't want to pursue my studies anymore, this is too much for me to handle. emotional breakdown. must have been cause by everyone asking, "so your studies how (discreetly intepreted as, are you still gonna continue)?". then when i was feeling alright, i tried to think, think of the possibilities. if i didn't pursue this dream that i have, this great opportunity with free education, what would i do? will i be willing to find a job here and settle down, what would i do? i came to a blank. i know for a fact i don't want to end up in sales or marketing. i don't think i'll find a job suitable for me at this point in time. what's more, will i be so lucky to get such scholarships in the future if i decided to change my mind? of course, the first reaction from my boyfriend is, "yay! that means you'll be back here for longer!". most of the times i think i'm alright, everything's going to be okay soon enough. in no time at all, it's going to be time to fly back to Melbourne. but when I think about it, doctor's not going to let me go back for at least another 2 months. he wants to monitor my recovery. but at least that's still better than the initial plan of keeping me here till August. yeah, i have to go for follow up treatment once a month but he said that i'll be able to arrange something in Melbourne after the first two sessions. at least it's something. though i'm gonna be delayed for another 2 months, at least i'm back here with family, hopefully soon with friends when i can start driving, eating and walking again, to hang out. sorry peeps if i haven't been calling you out, i'm not supposed to be hanging out at the moment.

happy valentine's day

|

happy valentine's! spread the love y'all!

to the new beginning

|
a new year. a new beginning. i was meant to announce that i've got the PhD scholarships! thank you melbourne uni for believing in me (my project). thank you department of medicine for my placement. so rest assured that i'll still be able to further my studies without burdening my supervisors or parents.

too many things to be done in such short period of time. was accomodating my family when they were here for my graduation. then right after graduation on the 17th dec, off i went on a road trip to sydney with eugene's family. all expense paid trip. i felt bad because they didn't let me pay for anything. but at least i was a good navigator when it comes to reading map and a 'portable' camera gal. always trying to help them take family pictures but always end up someone in the pic blinking! all in all, i had great fun! even got the chance to meet up with my childhood girlfriend, jane. it was nice chatting up with her, just the two of us. was wishing the night could have been longer. and thanks jane, for keeping your night free just for me, knowing that you actually had something on. and also for staying out so late eventhough you stay so far! i've checked on the map when we were leaving sydney, that liverpool is indeed pretty far away!

been busy packing up stuff and getting ready to move as well. didn't even get about to writing a draft for the journal my supervisor asked me to. now i also don't know what i'm going to do when i get in on the 2nd jan. hopefully he's not mad that i didn't do my homework.

then i'll be off to tassie the next few days for a week. soon enough, i'll be back in msia!

merry christmas

|
merry christmas and a happy holidays to all!

softies

|
softies in production! came upon this book in the bookstore, it caught my eye and it was love at first sight! then i went on to look for materials. because sewing machine is too expensive, i decided to choose the easiest looking one to make. scan template, enlarge, print, cut cut felt, sew sew sew. because it was handsewn it took quite a while. and thus born, morgan the monster!

then to my surprise when i came home today, eugene bought me a sewing machine!!! whoa! so i made another one with the sewing machine this time. though i must say, i had to spend quite some time understanding the functions on the machine before starting with another. but i'm happy! we decided to call this one, the ninja!

the happy duo!

*edit/

i've made like 4 now. ninjas in production! maybe, just maybe, you'll be lucky enough to get one of these weird and cute softies eh?

but i feel sick today. production is halted.

anxious

|
to find out whether i get a PhD scholarship or not. especially i just read an email that one senior in my lab got his scholarship offer already. it's the same one that i applied for which it says "application pending". i've been checking my mail like a thousand times a day! but actually, i think i'm just too keen to be independent. if i get the scholarship, then i don't have to rely on my supervisor to cover my expenses for next year. it's not like i won't be able to do a PhD or something like that. because no matter what, with or without scholarship, my supervisor has enough funding to support me. but you know, it will just make me think that i owe it to him. some more he will give me a top up scholarship regardless. where to find so nice supervisor you tell me. i hope i don't fall into the comfort zone to easily. else i might take things for granted. such a huge commitment ahead of me. i really hope i'll be able to meet up to expectations and responsibilities.

in slightly more than a week...

|
...my family will be here

...attending my graduation

...stop going to work for the shortest time

...go on a road trip to sydney

...so much is happening

once upon a time...

|
...i lost a toe nail

and now it almost looks normal...

when the internet is up and running

|
i'll be here online. online for as long as i can before it goes down again. though i don't exactly know what is wrong but at least it's rather easy to repair. must be not doing the proper thing though or else it wouldn't be down so often. maybe then i'll have more reasons to read more books. i just want to lay in bed and do nothing all day. i think this hayfever allergy thingy is starting to get on my nerves. when i wake up with a stuffy nose and watery eyes, i just don't feel like going to work. so i ponteng like the whole second half of the week. but i think i'll have to make up for lost time next week. cannot be so irresponsible do things halfway.

then i also have to look for potential new place to stay. this is taking up my brain power too. do you think it's better to get somewhere near the city, fully furnished but at AUD 200-300 more per month or somewhere which i might have to walk 50 mins to reach my campus (or 20 min tram - AUD 103 per month), need to get all furniture for house (cuz i already got furniture for room) like refrigerator, washing machine, sofa, dining table and chair, kitchen utensils,tv.

on the lighter note, i've gotten my results d. now just have to hope it's good enough to be considered for a scholarship. fingers crossed. trying not to get my hope too high because i know it's rather competitive and i think i'm just borderline. i really do hope i get it so i don't have to burden or rely on my supervisor's project funding. talking about project, i also haven't decided what exactly i want to do. i'm just too lazy! but it's good to know regardless of the funding i'll still be able to do a PhD. just think, if i don't get the scholarship, then it will be more troublesome in terms of re-enrolment. have to appeal for fee remission (don't need to pay tuition fees) then only can enrol, then only can make visa, then have to go medical check up, also health cover. sienz.

family potrait when my 'mum' came to melbourne.

ironic isn't it

|
my fav pic at the moment. but there's an irony if you look closely. where do you get this colourful candies from?

yes, eventhough i am officially on hols and should have more time to blog, my internet connection doesn't seem to be working the way it is. every other day it just gets stuffed then i lazy go fix it because my housemate still have exam. so never really online that much. weekend pulak go jalan jalan so never online also. ah. this is the life! if only it's not so darn hot!

everything new

|
i finally got myself that haircut. now my hair, looks nothing like before. you know you always go to the hairstylist wanting something different? this time, it's really different. and i'm liking it! my supervisor said "oh, i see you got yourself a post-thesis hairdo" and my senior said " someone took a bite out of my hair". so yes, deceivingly long but it's superbly short. no pics yet tho because i didn't have a camera.

went to have a early christmas lunch with the lab today. total of 20 people turned up. the whole lab, changing the tram to our destination, supervisor too! i think it's kinda cute, don't you? had japanese teppanyaki. it was plentiful and covered for by my supervisor. then we had a kris kringle. initially i asked myself "what's that?" then i realised it was exchanging of presents. you draw out a name and then buy a present for that person. i got chocolates. a lot of other people got chocolates too. i guess it's just something that most people will like. which i definitely do! there was christmas ornaments, photo frame, teacups, candles, book, vodka, wine, shovel !!?, necklace, wine, more wine and more chocolates! then we hung out chit chat exchange places and chat somemore. imagine, the whole lab is away from work on a wednesday afternoon. doesn't only end there, went for more drinks later!

til it came a time i had to leave, thankfully everyone else leaving too. it was already past 5pm anyways. then i went to look at the new digital camera i was eyeing on. and now, i have a new gadget! i just couldn't wait for a month, for my parents to buy it from malaysia. of course it's slightly more expensive to buy it here, but my rational was if i buy it here means i'm buying it with my own money (my parents does not contribute to my allowance or expenses here in any way because i have enough from the government and from working). another rational is if i work for 30 hours on my hourly pay, i'll be able to pay off for the camera. that's me trying to console myself for my splurge. but i'm loving it!

back from the land of pengpengpenguin

|

came back from the land of pengpengpenguin two days ago. though was literally living on the same island as the penguins. didn't went to visit them. no one was interested since most already went. so i missed out on coming in close contact with those cuddly friends. the trip was awesome! 10 gals and 1 guy. yes, that's the ratio of honours student within the St. Vincent's campus. and out of all these, only 2 of us are going to continue on with PhD, hopefully. as for the rest, there's too many options to choose from. med school. masters. research assistant. etc etc. we promised to keep in touch. we'll see how that goes. the student room will never be the same without the other four gals.

at the moment, enjoying the life of having nothing urgent to do. cleaning never seems to end. clean room. clean house. clean kitchen. wash clothes. wash dishes. so many boring things to do. since the rest are having exams. no one doing housework. don't need to tell you also you know where needs cleaning most eh?

bake. i like to bake. but i can't take pictures of what i baked today because my camera is sick. it has blurry eyes. now it can't see nicely. so it's rather redundant. hoping to get it diagnosed soon.
need a haircut. need a facial. fugly. too lazy to make appointment.
need more cash. to enjoy. woo!!

thesis is due tomorrow. have gotten it printed and all before i came back home today. that's it. i'm not going to look at it again. i don't want to have pick up any mistakes. the only thing i can ask for, if only their paper was whiter! i have an obsession with seriously white paper. not oath white but bleach white! anyways, it's still really good that the IT guys help with the printing. save us a lot of time and money in printing it. just need to get it all bound tomorrow! so exciting! whole year worth of work is gonna be determined by this one bound piece of work!
all the best to the rest who still have to sit for exams!

Craze for Starbucks

|

today has been based on impulse. planned to wake up early to go have breakfast before heading to uni but was too cold, didn't want to wake up. so I slept till late. when I finally decided to get out of bed, crossed fingers, when into the shower and yes!! it's working! shh...I went through almost a day without shower. so I thought, better do something from home then go uni for lab meeting. checked mail, tadaa! lab meeting cancelled. woo hoo! now what? because I know I won't be doing work from home, it's too cold and dark inside the house, so decided to head off to my favourite place, Starbucks!

so here I am! supposed to be doing work but as usual. finding distractions even without internet. see see, Microsoft Word 2007 has blog post function. just testing it out. plus I wanted to blog about Starbucks. the one in the city has a mezzanine level and lots of comfy couches. i'm sitting here at my favourite spot with my cup of double mocha macchiato on my laptop in my vain attempt to do some work. in the mean time getting distracted with everything. great ambience, great view. well, generally observing people. mostly Asians hanging out reading or chatting or doing work. occasional Caucasians doing the same. some businessmen don't know talking about what. mostly people dropping by for a take away. very busy joint indeed.

I like doing work in Starbucks because I can have my favourite coffee any time of the day then sit here for ages trying to get some work done. even if I end up not doing much, I know it would have been more than what I would have done if I was home. plus they have abundance of plug points so don't have to worry your notebook ran out of battery. they actually have internet too but I don't want to pay for it. internet will just make me more distracted from work, don't you think? think I better get some work done or else it will be a waste of 5 bucks for my coffee.

Do try it, Starbucks Double Mocha Macchiato, it's yum be it cold or hot!

somewhat familiar

|
just had this very familiar feel while streaming some movie. it just sends tingles down the spine when you think about it. somehow this situation in the movie brought upon a sense of dejavu. sometimes i think i watch too much drama that clouds my judgement on what is real. anyhow it goes something like this. literally translated the situation is where two person who have been through so many obstacles in their life trying to be together, ended up not being able to fulfill their dreams because of just minor misunderstanding which excalated. i guess at some point in time everyone would have went through something similar. to me, this sort of situation seems to appear in drama or movie too often. so often that when it occurs, it just makes me wonder. wonder why does it get processed in my mind differently. my mind seems to put too much emphasize on it. perhaps it is a reflection of what happened in my life. personal connection. arbitrary.

what do you think is underground?

|
i wonder what's beneath the ground !? these are the flowers growing in our backyard. needless to say, we don't water them ever! nor do we fertilize them. but these flowers seem to grow beautifully! the red ones grew on a tree that used to have fruits that looks like peaches or apricots. now it looks like a cherry blossom tree.

spring is in the air!

once upon a fine weekend

|

i was so excited when i saw this restaurant! how often do you see someone with the surname KHONG, what's more a restaurant! =)

aren't they the cutest thing ever? the agouti one is super friendly while the brown one is super 'kepoh'. shy shy but want to follow people around. then when you try to touch it, it run away!

another cutie pie. i think it's a goat? but super fluffy! then also very curious creature, tried to climb up the fence to sniff people's hand!

chocolate heaven! one of the chocolates on display, too bad it's not for eating. it was for a chocolate handicraft competition. i voted for this one of course!

bendigo was once a mining town. so it's not surprising there used to be chinese people there. follow the money, people!

this is 'loong'. apparently it's like one of the oldest dragon in the world! but what is it doing in bendigo, australia?

sacred heart cathedral

one of the most amazing structure i've came across so far. perhaps it was because its size. majestic.

p/s: it was really hard to take a good pic considering i don't have a tripod. it's at night. it was freezing cold. and raining.

i hate my blog!!

|
argh! how i hate my blog! just went i find so hard for a nice template, it always get fcuked up. now can someone please design a template for me that won't go KO? pretty pweese?

how was your weekend?

|
well, my weekend was fulfilling! started off the day doing my laundry (yes, this is what people who don't stay home do) then decided to bake something so i baked apple loaf. almost finish one already! then i became home hairstylist for the second time! ok ok, maybe not hairstylist, home barber? ahaha! and this time around, i think it looks nice! can pass as amateur barber leh! ok, not on my own hair of course, on eugene's hair. he's been bugging me to cut it for like months now and i finally did it again. i dread it initially because the last time i cut for him it turned out rather funky! so, what else, went shopping today but as usual end up buying nothing much. went to footscray for random beef noodle soup craving and the plan was to walk around looking for a shop that is open where there's is a lot of people eating noodle soup. which we did managed to find a good one! yumz!! i think i could have ate another bowl (that's just what i think). rather cold day today but the noodles does help warm me up inside! now, prolly have to start cleaning my room a lil. no space to do productive work. ta!

i hate spam!

|
yes. i hate spam! you know how normal email service providers like yahoo or gmail will sort out those mails that they think is spam or junk and normally it's quite accurate except for the occasional friend's email getting lost in the pile. but i tell you, this university mail of mine, very stupid eh, i think got more junk mail that actual emails! i already set the security level to higher than normal and yet so much rubbish comes my way. i don't quite understand how does my unimail get caught in the network of junk mails anyways. not like i simply go use my unimail to subsribe to stuff or anything. i hardly even use it. so since i forwarded the unimail to my yahoo account, everyday i'm bombarded with ample of junk! junk i tell ya! and there doesn't seem to be anything i can do about it. i actually thought of sending an email to the IT people in the uni see if they can help me sensor junk mails but to imagine so many people wanting them to do that they would have been overwhelmed! guess i have to live with it until i leave melbourne university. the good thing is i check my email like a million times everyday since it's work or uni related, so i can just delete them as i carry on with my daily life. oh but think of it, if they ever sent me junk mails about job offer, maybe that will catch my interest? anyone wanna offer me a job? just email me!

i like! u like?

|
there! how is this one for a change? of course i just cut and paste most of the things from the original template because i can't be bothered or more like don't have the time to make my own. i can barely find the time to blog.
i think i must be too pre-occupied with sleeping! thinking of work makes me tired. when i tired i feel like sleeping. sleep so that don't need to think about work. see the vicious cycle? i'm beginning to think am i cut out to be in research? i may be good with studies, well, even that i'm not excellent but in the field of research, good doesn't seem to be enough. i'm "excellent" according to my supervisor. everyone in my lab likes me. i like being there too! really helpful and diverse personalities in just one lab. but do i really like what i'm doing? i think this must be the negativity talking. i hate it when the results is not what it's meant to look like. sometimes i think too much.
now now, let's think of the positives. i'm almost finish with honours. just another 3 more months and it's over! at least for this year that is. i admit i'm a slacker that's why i like this field. at the moment i can come in anytime and leave at anytime. if i had a 9 to 5 job, i don't think i'll be able to stand it! i'll have to have like 3 coffee breaks per day!
i need to be more hardworking from today onwards. my motivation to be great not just good. sometimes i put pressure on myself but this is what you got to do to achieve great things. i should still believe that the amount of effort you put into your work pays off at the end of the day. though it may not be always through but it is most of the time.
play hard, work hard!

temporary out of service

|
my...i'm so bad with the template and code and html stuff. so the background will temporary be in revision. now it's plain old boring background.

3 years and counting

|
happy anniversary my dear! though sometimes you may be the most annoying person in the world, it means something to be able to share our life journey together. if anything, we're growing and learning all the time. i used to be one of those people who says i like you for who you are but i think in a relationship you have to learn when to adapt. when to evolve. when to give in. the funny thing is that we tend to learn each other's habit. name callings. expressions. at the end of the day, not knowing who started it! and i like it whenever you surprise me with those little things, those little things that i mentioned once upon a time ago and you still remember. yet i still doubt you think what i do for you is special. since you can't even remember the important events. you may not be the most romantic person in the world but i guess you just have a different way of ticking.
but you're still the worst housemate i ever got! but because i'm so kind, or perhaps, i can't stand the mess, i clean up after you. should not pamper you so much, you know? after become habit eh. three years, is that long? does time really say it all? to me, it doesn't. there's still so much to learn. there's still so much we could improve on. sometimes you just want to be naive and think you'll just get into a relationship and it'll be prefect the way it is. how often do you get that? i'm sure there's always ups and downs. though it's my bad that i always remember the bad things clearer but i would definitely say there's more ups than downs at the moment.

stuff it.

|
stuff it. i'm not good at writing and all sorts. i seriously don't have creative juice flowing within me. no wonder i'm not an artist. or an architect. or a pianist (or in my case, electonist maybe?) or any other sort of thing that needs creativity. i like art-y stuff. i love them all. but i'm just not good at any. i admire those who can, those who are, i really do. sometimes even envious at their abilities. wonder what i could blame on me being the way i am? perhaps i'm not good at writing because i don't read much. if i don't read, i don't stimulate my mind often enough so i won't have the ability to think, to analyse situation impromptu. or maybe i'm just so dull. so dull and boring that i can't seem to find excitement in life. things that are worth writing about. but of course i still think it's me. because if i'm creative, if i'm capable, i should be able to turn those things that past me by each day into something interesting. if i read enough books, i'm sure i'll eventually get lots more ideas and inspiration.
